Hi, I’m Mike Caisse! I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy, coach, athlete, educator, husband and dad (we have a new baby girl!). I am the founder of PhysioFit Rx, a physical therapy and human performance practice which specializes in helping CrossFit and endurance athletes overcome their challenges and obstacles.
I’ve been an elite Crossfit athlete for 11 years and done endurance sports for 25 years. Not only do I know the injuries sports can cause, I’ve experienced many of them. I know how frustrating it is when your body can’t do what you want because of underlying pain and mobility restrictions. I consulted an Orthopedist and a Physical Therapist for help, but their advice was to “strengthen” my ankle with rubber bands, which was essentially useless. There I was, a maimed athlete, beginning my second year of graduate school. I was back to the routine of lifting weights and playing intramural sports. I was unmoved, still with no epiphany and no answers to the questions that plagued me regarding human performance. This frustration sent me on my quest for knowledge on how to fix sports related pain and movement dysfunction.
One day I met a fellow athlete who asked me if I did Crossfit. I didn’t know what Crossfit was so I sought out more information about it. What I discovered changed my life and the way I thought about exercise and human performance.
I learned that athletes’ safest movement patterns are also their strongest. Gyms should not only be a place to sweat but should also be a setting to observe, diagnose and correct movement errors which lead to pain and injury. I’ve learned how to identify when movement dysfunction is present, the price paid due to the movement dysfunction in terms of reduced human performance and power output, and how to solve the problems causing the dysfunctions in a do-it-yourself fashion.
This led me to open one of the most sought after hybrid practices in the country, PhysioFit Rx PLLC, so athletes can find the help they need from an expert they can trust. Since breaking away from traditional healthcare I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the fittest athletes on the planet. As I help them solve their pain and movement problems, I’m teaching them how to maximize performance and achieve their goals as athletes.
